Concise English bio
Edith Soonckindt is a literature and communication postgraduate from France, currently living in Brussels after a few long detours via Kentucky, London, California, Manchester, the Riviera and Holland.
A lecturer for 10 years, she has been working in publishing for some 20 years now, as literary translator, revisor, author and advisor.
She has published numerous poems and short stories, one novel and a number of books for children, along with 29 translations from the English and 1 from the Dutch. She specializes in translating books from England, Ireland, the States, Canada and New Zealand.
She was awarded two French prizes (Prix RFI de la Nouvelle & Prix Thyde Monier du 1er Roman de la SGDL, Paris) for her personal work.
She also subtitled films into Dutch for the Warner.
She adores Duras and Murakami, dark chocolate, baroque music and movies.
